We create compelling spaces that embrace real life—and tell people’s stories. Always individual, always intriguing, always inspired. At the heart of our design are a disciplined eclecticism and well-travelled aesthetic. Blending modern, exotic, and classic influences and materials, we have also developed the James Duncan Collection, an evolving range of furniture with representation in New York and Miami.
James Duncan
Born in New York, raised and educated around the world, James’ eclectic background influences his work today. Vancouver, Paris, Sotogrande, Jamaica, Manhattan, Sri Lanka, Italy, and Africa all have a part to play. From studying journalism, and then art, as well as starting out as an investment banker, his strongest influences are undoubtedly his academic parents. Passionate renovators and collectors, they showed James the world through the lens of scholars and bon vivants. With a passion for art, literature and industrial design well and truly lit, a career that married creativity, arts and business seemed an inevitability. James Duncan is cofounder and designer.
Miriam Duncan
Miriam is multi-layered. Design, fashion, culture, cuisine and textiles are all strong passions, often intertwining in the way her work plays out. Born in Morocco, and educated there and in Canada, she draws on the vivid Saharan colors of her childhood and her experience of working with exotic materials for collections in New York’s fashion industry. After meeting James in Spain, and then working with him in the UK, they moved to Miami to start a family, as well as their own business designing furniture and interiors. Miriam’s approach is to use design to shape enduring environments for people out of their personal narratives. Miriam is cofounder and design director.
